A small settlement for gold mining in the 18th century, grew & prospered to become a town and took its name from the most prominent of its citizens – John A. Sutter, is now Sutter Creek. It’s known as the ‘Jewel of the Mother Lode’. In Sutter Creek, you can’t afford to miss visiting certain things like:

  • Sutter Gold Mine: These underground gold mines give a complete view of the various pacts in the mining of the Gold. It’s majorly open on all days during working hour’s timings.
  • Monteverde General Store: Built in 1898 as a general mercantile store, has now turned to Monteverde Store Museum.
  • The Ratto Theatre: into operations since 1919.
  • American Exchange Hotel: Narrating a story of being burnt down in 1865 to rising again to become a shelter to various bars, restaurants etc attracts everyone who visits Sutter creek.
  • Knight Foundry: Things that don’t get old, this foundry is said to be ‘standing as was erected’ by Samuel Knight in 1872. It’s said to be the only water foundry of the historic times in US.
