Snuggled very close by to Butte County Fairgrounds is the city of Gridley! The city of Gridley takes pride in its very pretty history, being named after its earliest landowner, George W. Gridley. The economy was supported by sheep stock business and mining and a little later, agriculture became the most attractive-stable business. A lot of interesting old architecture can still be witnessed in the city; in fact, much of the historic downtown area still carries its antique uniqueness. There is the Hazel Street which carries the evidence of this rich past with its tall standing, well-preserved turn-of-the century houses. It is most popularly known as the ‘Silk Stocking Row’.

Apart from the restoration of historic structures and buildings, the city also boasts of the new storefronts that blossom throughout the area, throughout the year. The city seems to be growing every moment with the increase in partnerships among developers, retailers and the community itself.
