An incorporated town in Marin County , Corte Madera is a Spanish word that means to “Chop wood”. The area, surrounded by Redwood Trees, got its name as it was a major source for obtaining lumber which went into construction. In fact the city of San Francisco was majorly constructed from lumber that was produced here. The city is also fondly referred to as “The hidden jewel of Marin”. The city presents a scenic view of the entire countryside and is the perfect place if you want to indulge in some hiking along Mt. Tamalpais !
