Capturing a significant western region of the Butte County is a census-designated place, Durham. Founded by the Durham family, Durham was a little town through which a railroad ran through and it still does even today! This railroad actually developed the town and is thus still kept alive. In fact, the Durham House still stands tall in the town as a reminder of the royal Durham family in its yester years. Yet another integral part of this settlement was the Durham Flour Mill but unfortunately, it was burned down. The economy of Durham depends on its famous agricultural products, walnuts and almonds. A handsome town in itself and a proud charisma of the county!
