If you haven’t gone too far from Auburn then just go 30 miles northeast and you are welcomed by Dutch Flat with a history of the richest gold mines of California. This city first had gained the distinction as the stagecoach stop that made it a very popular town in the Placer County. These days, the administration opens the Golden Drift Museum in the summers. All the mountain and recreation areas are at a short distance from Dutch Flat where one can enjoy the sports like skiing, biking, fishing, kayaking and hiking etc. There is a good note of historic buildings and monuments to visit like Odd Fellows Building and the Masonic Hall (both pre-1856), old Dutch Flat Elementary School (1898), and the Dutch Flat Cemetery.
