Sharing its area with the famous community of Butte Meadows is the unincorporated settlement of Forest Ranch. This pastorally beautiful town is elevated at a height of 2415 feet above sea level. Interestingly, the eastern end of the community is 3500 feet i.e. about 1000 feet higher. It is this region of Forest Ranch that sometimes receives snowfall. In fact, citizens residing to the center of the center               of the settlement also share their experience of heavy snowfall which even prevents driving for about 1-3 days every year. Residents living in Forest Ranch travel to nearby big towns and cities such Chico for work. The community is well-equipped with a Forest Ranch Elementary School, a CDF fire station and its own post office.
