Named after a French military hero and today renowned for its upscale lifestyle, pastoral rolling hills, small town downtown and a warm summer Mediterranean climate is the beautiful city of Lafayette, located on the 15 sqaure miles of Contra Costa County. The city is studded with a number of community centers, Buckeye fields (used for baseball and the like), hiking trails and reservoir. The wildlife communities of the Lafayette include the oak woodlands and the mixed woods.
