West of Jackson & east of Ione, connected by the Amador Central Railroad, Martell houses the major retail stores of the Amador County like Wal-Mart, Kmart, Lowe’s etc. A scantily populated town though, it also owns the crunch restaurant outlets too. The Martell Stage Station exists from the times of the Gold Rush.
Also, you shouldn’t forget to visit the Sundance Hotel in Martell since 1924 is the Martell boarding house.
To discover more about one of the largest wineries you would find Martell to be your destination, in the name of Froehlich Winery. The place still carries the ruins of this winery, started in 1862, in its heart that can be seen even today there.
