To the south of the county is yet another census-designated place that is virtually tied to proper Oroville and that is the grand South Oroville. Since South Oroville comprises of a negligent amount of businesses, residents majorly rely on the commercial centers of Oroville and Chico. In fact, there lies no clear distinction between Oroville proper and South Oroville; the latter is more of a continued suburb of the main city. In fact, the same applies to the small settlements of Oroville East, Palermo and Thermalito. The famous Las Plumas High School is established in South Oroville and this is where maximum number of high school students from nearby towns and communities study. In a gist, it’s an amazing extension of the Oroville proper.
