One would be surprised to know that Woodland was formerly known as Yolo City and today, as Woodland, it stands as the proud county seat of Yolo County, located just 15 miles northwest of Sacramento. Though Woodland is a growing sophisticated community, it still retains its ‘small town feel’ for the city is majorly encircled by vast spreads of lavish farmlands. It is most certainly a city rich in history and there are many activities that take birth almost every day in Woodland, such as the Yolo County Fair, the Woodland Dynamite Chili Cook-off and much more. Woodland also takes pride in several small museums such as the Heidrick Agricultural History Center, Hays Antique Truck Museum and Yolo County Historical Museum. The Woodland Opera House is yet another prized possession of the city which was in fact the first one in the Sacramento Valley. The proud city of Woodland is certainly a must visit when in Yolo County.
